Adults?

Am I the only person here over 21?
Seems there are a lot of teenage fans into SOAD, great. But most of you were still in pre-school when they were a new band.
Not saying it is bad thing, fans are fans! But would be nice to know if I am the old lady here.

I wouldn't call you old...lol. I'm 20, or almost. I think almost everyone here is pretty young though. There are older people at SOADfans, but this board seems to have attracted the younger crowd.

Oh yeah

I have a son who is 21 and a teenage daughter, so yeah, I'd have to admit to being over 21.

I was well into my forties when I got into SOAD, myself.  So yeah, I'm even older than Serj.

And it's not a bad thing.  I love making friends with cool people of all ages on these boards.  With music, age doesn't matter.  A great musician told me that once.

*smiles*

(Oh, and CDoris, don't you know?  We are escaping from SOADfans and infiltrating this place.  Mwuahahaha!)

Cool!

I am almost 30 & a mother of 3 and often feel old when I see how young some fans are.

Nice to know I am not alone in the adult world of SoB!

I completely agree with you!
Better to listen to SoB or System of the Down than the music pimped on MTV!
Some young ones have really good taste in music.

And a lot still listen to crap! I was in a record store listening to some fangirls screaming, finally i had to stop them and ask 'who the hell are the Jonas brothers and why are you screeching about them at supersonic tones?' They almost fainted because i had no idea who their idols were...so much tenny pop music is out there now i use my headphones as a noise shield in the mall.

Oi you guys aren't the only SOADFANS members here, my user name there is "moonhanger" -  I like the change tho, it's suits where my life is now & so does Scars. Besides I like it here  ... I think I'll stay for awhile - Scars & fans have no idea what they're in for ;-}  As for age, I'm 28, exactly 6 yrs younger than Shavo. And ur right linster1, age is not a factor where great music is concerned & this is why we're here right, for great music!

Yeah there are a lot of youngins on this forum.

As far as the MTV discussion goes, I haven't seen a music video on that channel in ages. MTV is horrible. Last time I checked, MTV stood for MUSIC TELEVISION. Theyve fallen far away from that. And as far as the new artists on MTV, Scars is never gonna win. I wish they did but people are way to into people like Miley Cirus and the Hip Hop artist. I use to like rap but I found that talking in a song and having someone else make a beat for you takes little talent. Playing an instrument and SINGING takes talent. That's where songs get their names right? from singing? Anyways I'm done ranting and I think it sucks that Scars doesnt have a chance to win the new artist award.

Poor children. At least the people on this site actually know good music.

And tecnically, I'm over 21 by one year if that counts :D

Heheh...

I'm older than your mom... ; )

Yeah, maybe that's why I haven't totally got into this forum yet, everyone does seem quite young. Or maybe because I've been really busy with work and stuff... Anyway I have been totally obsessed with Scars since the album came out, today I actually made myself wait until I was walking home from work before I listened to it... man it was sweet though...
Anyway I digress... good to see I'm not the only ...erm... 'mature' person here. :D

you too?

I can't stop listening to the cd.  Every song is good, maybe because they're so different?  He writes incredibly catchy songs but with so many layers to them, you don't get bored with them.   It's a bit  embarassing but I'm really digging  this cd and am looking forward to seeing them september 6.

Anyone else from Denmark here going to the show?  (how high school is that, lol)

Hey there fellow Canadian and fellow 34 year old! I too have seen Tool and Nine Inch Nails (just last Tuesday and although my knees and back may protest, I still venture into the pit from time to time)...damn you for having seen Faith No More...that's one I missed back when they still existed.

See, there's plenty of old-timers in here! I think someone summed it up best. There's lots of us over 21...it's just that the under-agers are out of school right now and have far too much time to post on here constantly. Me? I'm just a big slacker.

I also produce a podcast on my site and the last one featured nothing but heavy metal/thrash music from a bunch of indie acts and a few names you may know. Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think on the site.

So you see, age is just a number...

Mentally, I am a child. Emotionally, I am hella old. Chronologically, I am in between the two.

Answeringly, I am vague.

I am almost 30, and the furthest thing from an adult.
I play with play dough and legos, drink from sippy cups and dress like I am 15.
And get crushes on crazy Armenian rockers.

I hope I am a super cool granny too.
I am sure by the time my kids have kids I will still be a teenager with droopy boobs and gray hairs.

I'm a dad, from the Vancouver area & into only the sweetest of shit.. I've lost count how many shows I've been to, but it's in the hundreds somewhere.  Very loyal to bands I like.. goin to see Nails AGAIN this fall, coming up Beck, STP, Radiohead, Toadies, Chris Rock, Scars, Madonna (hey come on now, Monte from Prong's in the fuckin band) & Cheech & CHonger.  Seen Type O Negative, Ministry, Black Mountain & Atmosphere this year, Prong & Queens late last year.  I live for this shit & I play music myself as well

Really? I'm felling quite too young on concerts ;-) I'm 17 and on the most ones I was people around me were older. Usually I see two or three youngers or in the same age and the rest is about 20, 30, 40 and etc.

They're probably only just admitting it. I wouldn't let my father know i was a chili peppers fan for the longest. It always ticked him of when i would tell him he has bad taste in music. Still do sometimes, just for the fun of it.

Without shame, I admit to being 50. I know, isnt that some shit? Have kids ages 27,14,and 12. Fortunately they dont listen to that rap shit. My influence on them with music is only the good shit..besides soad and scars, only metal and hard rock. I guess my music likes will never change. Just because Im not 20something doesnt mean I cant appreciate good music, even tho most my age dont know the bands I like. I know what I like and dont make excuses for it. And definitely not trying to regain my youth, I like where I am and wouldnt go back for anything. Good music is good music, no matter the age of the musician or the listener. Im also a "veteran" of many Ozzfests, Ive never felt outta place among the younger people.  I do think Im not the "norm" for people my age, but who cares...Im me.
